Alternatives to Science and Math

/ / Blog, Schoolhouse Teachers

Do your kids struggle with the traditional math and science courses? Perhaps they’d enjoy taking a step back and trying something new. SchoolhouseTeachers.com has courses that still teach math and science concepts but from a slightly different perspective. Statistics with Kathy Lapan contains five months’ worth of lessons plus a lab with topics such as normal distribution, graphs, standard deviation, and slope, as well as demographics and sample sizes. The course is presented through slideshows and requires completion of assignments and a final project for high schoolers who wish to receive academic credit. Middle schoolers can also take this class. They can take Computer Science/Programming with Chris Yust, too, as can high schoolers. Chris presents a wide variety of topics such as HTML, programming with Greenfoot, Minecraft mods, JavaScript, and much more. This 12-month course uses colorful printables with step-by-step instruction.
