When you think about ponds, what animals do you think of? One of the first to come to many minds is frogs. But that’s only a small portion of the animal life you can find there. Join Yvonne Blake and Daily Discoveries this week for a look at the amphibians and reptiles—including frogs, salamanders, snakes, and turtles—that call ponds home. You can practice vocabulary, math, and writing each weekday as we take a closer look at each of these animals.

Discover American musician Art Tatum in this month’s Everyday Composers unit by Julie A. Pierce. Julie shares about the life and legacy of this determined and gifted pianist who could play hymns from ear by the age of 3, played piano as an adult with a speed and dexterity that convinced listeners there were actually two men at the keys, and overcame near total blindness. Julie incorporates history and geography, music appreciation, and additional reference materials for a truly harmonious lesson.
