America, the Beautiful
America has breathtaking scenery, amazing history, and interesting cultures. One of those cultures is the Deaf Community. Students in middle school and high school can learn about this culture through American Sign Language. Sandra Heflin teaches students a beginning vocabulary of approximately 350 basic signs, the manual alphabet, and grammar, along with a basic understanding of the Deaf Community and culture. As students discover and learn about the Deaf culture, it will help them use ASL appropriately and accurately. This 15-week course includes video-based lessons and printable resources. Continue to learn about the different cultures in America, as well as the history and places of significance, in Everyday Explorers – USA. Julie Coney takes students in all grade levels on a tour of the US by exploring the different states. There are activities, interesting facts, and links that will help the student virtually explore the areas being discussed. Map work is included, and the weather is logged. Activities are included for all grade levels so any age student can benefit from this course.
