Art for All Ages
Exceptional art courses abound on SchoolhouseTeachers.com. The variety within each course will provide your student with a great experience, regardless of his/her age. Studio Art for Teens is a course that focuses on a step-by-step recognition of how to build art by imitating the masters. Sharon Jeffus has written more than forty lessons for middle and high school students, looking at flowers, trumpets, bagpipes, teaching math through art, bells, horses, and so on. A minimum of sixteen lessons completed, including the lessons that combine literature and art, can constitute one credit hour of high school art. Elementary Art with Jennifer Hawkins is geared toward preschoolers through the elementary grades. Each unit focuses on a different area of art. The first unit is “Twelve Great Artists,” a twelve-week study of the masters. Jennifer has provided a brief biography of each artist, what type of medium/style made him/her famous, a suggested reading list, and information about some of the artist’s works. Elementary students can imitate the artist and create art in unique and memorable ways that will help them learn about Michelangelo, Picasso, O’Keefe, Rembrandt, Grant Wood, and more.
