Be Informed

/ / Blog, Schoolhouse Teachers

It is important to know what is going on in our world. It is especially important for our older students to be able to make informed decisions on a variety of topics. They need to understand certain things and need to figure out where they stand on certain issues. SchoolhouseTeachers.com offers a remarkable class, led by Kurt Hoffman, called Social Justice. In 16 weeks, Kurt will challenge middle and high school students to examine their own ideals, to become young heroes. They will research the history of slavery and come to the realization that it still exists today, but they will also learn that they can be agents of change when it comes to this social injustice. These same middle and high school students can gain an understanding of the financial world with Mike Sims in his full-year Economics course. Topics include the function of economics in various sectors of society such as professional football, piracy, skiing, and the world of chocolate, along with the timely topic—Christmas budgets. Students will also learn about twelve economists who have been influential throughout history.
