So much can be learned from history. It isn’t an endless list of dates and names with no significance in the present. It is alive with real people and events that have shaped our world, our country, even who we are as a people. Younger students can have fun bringing history to life with Figures in History. They can learn more about Joan of Arc, Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson, and William the Conqueror through puzzles, coloring pages, and studying art. Middle and high school students who have an interest in bringing history to life on the big screen might consider taking Filmmaking with George Escobar of Advent Film Group. In this 35-week course, George shares his knowledge of the entertainment industry from a Christian perspective. Students will learn the essentials of filmmaking, color, audio, and budgeting, as well as how to put God back into films. A new film, due to be released in April, puts God back into films and brings history to life—Beyond the Mask. Though this is a fictional tale, it is set in the backdrop of the American Revolution. It is an historical action/adventure film that celebrates true freedom. The release date is April 6, but this movie will only be shown in theaters where enough interest is generated. Visit Beyond the Mask to learn more about the movie, watch a trailer, and reserve your seats.
