Travel back to when our country began, before we were even thirteen colonies, in American History: Colonization Era with Amy Puetz. Elementary and middle school students can learn of the founding of the American colonies, beginning with Jamestown in 1607 and continuing through the colonial period and the French and Indian War in 1759. Written text includes stories of heroes and heroines, Scripture memorization, geography, writing assignments, art, authentic period recipes, and more. As students are learning about this early history, they may want to reenact it. Amy Puetz provides instructions for creating costumes from different historical eras in Beginning Sewing: Historical Costumes. This is a fun way for students in any grade to learn to use basic sewing skills alongside history. Costume instructions are provided for a pioneer, sailor, pilgrim, Victorian era muff and bonnet, pockets, handbags, and more. The sixteen lessons include video instruction, detailed sewing directions, and patterns, along with rich history lessons.
