Creative Writing
How do playwrights create such lively entertainment? How do books become movies? It all starts with a great story. And most of those great stories are the result of hours upon hours of practice. Practice what you ask? Well, writing practice. You don’t think authors just sit down and write the next great American novel without honing their skills, do you? SchoolhouseTeachers.com provides many avenues for writing practice, including Daily Writing under the Dailies tab. There is a writing prompt for each day of the week that encourages students to be creative. While they are creating, perhaps they have an idea for a story that could be made into a play or a movie someday. Why not join Marci Hanks in How to Write and Produce a Play? From choosing a topic and describing characters to final production, Marci teaches students about the different steps in writing a play and the various jobs required to produce a play. Filmmaking with professional filmmaker George Escobar allows the student to learn about the filmmaking industry, from basic story structure to careers within the film industry. See how George incorporates all these facets of the industry to produce a film through his new movie, Hero, available in Wal-Mart stores on September 16.
