Besides the weekly and monthly lessons for the core subjects, SchoolhouseTeachers.com has many different types of courses that provide a daily lesson or activity. These are found under the Dailies tab. One of the courses offered is Spelling. Every grade level has between 36 and 40 weekly lessons. Some levels have two or three years’ worth of lessons, and some levels have three separate lists. So, the parent has some choices to make as far as which year and which level. There is no wrong choice! All words are age appropriate according to the student’s level, and many have videos, games, and worksheets to go along with the weekly lists. Lower Elementary Year Two begins each with Charlotte Mason Monday. The spelling words are drawn from Scripture, classic literature, and famous speeches. Year Three for Upper Elementary, Middle School, and High School focuses on building vocabulary and encourages the student to create their own dictionary as they progress through the year.
