If today we began studying all of the cultures, languages, and history of the world, we would never be able to learn it all. Fortunately, some of these things are available through SchoolhouseTeachers.com. Greg Shone teaches French to students in middle and high school, though elementary students can learn French, if they are ready to add it to their schedules. Greg is a certified French teacher and coauthor of French Essentials. Two complete years of French lessons are available, and year three is currently ongoing, though you can start at the beginning whenever you are ready as the classes are not live. Student will begin by learning the pronunciation of the letters and will quickly advance to simple French phrases. The course is taught with weekly downloadable PDF worksheets and audio to teach correct pronunciation. Dr. Carol Reynolds teaches Imperial Russia. This is a college preparatory course for grades 8-12. It is lecture based and includes assignments, quizzes, and exams along with answer keys. Students will learn about medieval princes, major historical developments that shaped Russian history, architecture, folk art, key contributions of many Russian authors, works of Ballets Russes, and the rise of revolutionary art and music in the early Soviet period. Students will also have an opportunity to become familiar with Russian names and basic terms that use the Cyrillic alphabet, which will provide an introduction for further study of the Russian language in the future. Each core lesson is a video lecture by Professor Carol that is usually 45 minutes to an hour in length.
