Ditch the Desk and Go on an Adventure!

/ / Blog, Schoolhouse Teachers

Even though school is beginning for most of us, it doesn’t mean that we can’t still go on an adventure. Ditch the Desk, under the Dailies tab, provides lessons geared toward students in kindergarten through fifth grade to get them out from behind the desk. During the summer, the focus has been on birds. If you didn’t have a chance to catch these lessons, they are still available on the site. Many activities and learning opportunities are provided. Once your kids are out from behind their desks (if they had one to begin with!), go on an adventure with Bonnie Rose Hudson through Asia in Asia: Trade Route Safari. Explore 38 different countries/regions. This would be a wonderful choice for teaching geography as she has included maps, videos, activities, and provides a look at the people who live in these places. Another excellent option for geography is Terri Johnson’s Geography class. Terri has broken down the activities into three different age ranges so that older students have more work to complete. They will learn about locations in the Middle East and England, where American tribal groups have lived, and the routes that explorers took, among other things. Students are sure to gain a great deal of knowledge from these classes.
