Think of a child who discovers something for the very first time. His eyes light up. A smile grows on his face. He may even jump up and down with excitement. Now imagine this kind of excitement every day. With Daily Discoveries, elementary and middle school students can study topics such as pond life, the seashore, the forest, and more. Lessons by Yvonne Blake focus on the animals and plants that live in each of these diverse environments. Each lesson contains material to read, vocabulary exercises, math, writing prompts, and an activity to encourage further learning. Everyday Explorers—Australia and New Zealand takes the whole family on a journey “down under.” This is a seven-month elective course that allows the student to study interesting facts about Australia and New Zealand and the history of these nations, as well as native Australian animals. A different state or territory of Australia will be visited each month, with detours to explore New Zealand, the Cook Islands, and Niue. There are activities, interesting facts, and links that will help the student virtually explore the areas being discussed in the day’s lesson.
