Fish and Phonics
Do your kids enjoy fishing? Do they enjoy playing games? During the rainy days this summer, they can do both at SchoolhouseTeachers.com. Everyday Games by Teresa Evans, found under the Dailies tab, allows children to race around a game board while they catch fish. Each of the games reinforces some aspect of phonics such as rhyming, suffixes, silent letters, as well as math concepts like decimal numbers and multiplication. Even if you haven’t been playing every day, you can view older posts and find the game that suits your child’s needs. There is a wide variety of topics and variation in game play. Wildlife Adventures with Kelli Becton is a class found under the Family/For Parents tab. Kelli teaches students about animals that live on land and in the sea. She has discussed dolphins, sea lions, sea turtles, the American alligator, and jellyfish. She has provided a cover page and notebooking pages for each animal, bird, and fish group that has been discussed so that children can create a binder. Binders like this become wonderful keepsakes. Feel free to view the completed lessons as they are readily available on the site.
