Written in the ancient Hebrew language, the Bible speaks a great deal about hospitality. We are to love our neighbors as ourselves. In Leviticus, the Hebrews were commanded to love foreigners as themselves. So, why not learn the two together? Hands-On Hebrew with Evonne Mandella provides students in elementary through high school an opportunity to learn some of the Hebrew language. During this 16-week course, Evonne uses videos, pronunciation guides, word games, and Scripture references to teach words for family members, parts of the body, clothing, times of day, seasons, weather, and so on. Students will get to hear and see Scripture in its original language and will learn how to read a prayer written in Hebrew. Home Economics with Heather Leach looks at hospitality concepts such as food, nutrition, and party planning, which includes creating a menu and cleaning. She also discusses self-management practices like good hygiene, personal appearance, and time management. Of course, home economics wouldn’t be complete without basic instruction in cooking, including using kitchen tools, measuring, and cooking meals.
