Here is the Church . . . Here are the People
History is one of those subjects that has a nearly endless variety of topics to choose from. You can choose to learn about people who lived 200 years ago or 2,000 years ago. You can choose to learn about the history of a culture that lived 200 miles from where you are now or 2,000 miles from where you are. Church History with Steffanie Howard is a 35-week course for high schoolers that begins with the foundations of the church in the Old Testament and continues through to the present day. Weekly text-based lessons are broken into four daily assignments and involve adding dates to timelines, making maps, reading works from all periods of history, and short answer writing to provoke thought and deeper comprehension. Students will study the roots and origin of the Christian church. However, the study is not limited to the church itself, but to all influences in history that have impacted the church, and likewise, the movements in history that the church has impacted. Classical History with Jennifer Courtney will illuminate your child’s understanding of the people groups mentioned in the Bible. Geared toward elementary and middle school students, the 29 weekly lessons will supplement your studies of the New Testament and help students to understand the primary civilizations of the time—Greece and Rome. Lessons include the Age of Ancient Empires, Egyptians, Hittites, Canaanites, Assyrians, Babylonians, The Exodus, The Conquests, Israel’s United Kingdom, Israel Divides Into Two Kingdoms, Founding of Rome, Israel Falls to Assyria, Assyria Falls to Babylon, Judah Falls to Babylon, Babylon Falls to Persia, Jews Rebuild the Temple, Golden Age of Greece, and more.
