Our country has a fascinating history. We could read all the history books and still not know everything that took place. New stories come out virtually every day about some event or some amazing person in our past. With Everyday Explorers: USA, you can learn new facts about each of our fifty states. Visit historic sites like George Rogers Clark National Historic Site in Indiana or natural sites of significance like Quecreek Mine in Pennsylvania. Students can create a timeline and gain an understanding of the relationship between past events. Speaking of sites of natural significance, Deborah Burton is tackling the topic of Marcellus Shale and fracking in Mock Trial this month with middle and high school students. All over the country, deposits of natural gas are being discovered, and companies are moving in to procure these gas reserves. Deborah discusses the arguments in favor and against fracking, the legal issues surrounding fracking, and ends the discussion with a mock trial.
