I Caught a Fish This Big . . .
We’ve all heard a tale of the one that got away. Each time the story is told, the fish seems to grow exponentially. When we tell a story, our mind can exaggerate reality. Our story begins with something we know, and it becomes grand over time . . . and it eventually becomes fiction. Middle and high school students who want to share their vivid imaginations with others can participate in Carrie Daws’ Creative Writing course. Carrie’s twenty-four lessons will help students become better writers as she guides them through character and scene development, writing dialogue, fiction guidelines, and getting published.
Elementary and middle school students can learn the facts that might one day become the basis for their work of fiction in Daily Discoveries with Yvonne Blake. This is an elective science study for students with an interest in topics such as pond life, the seashore, the forest, and more. Lessons contains material to read, vocabulary exercises, math, writing prompts, and an activity. Perhaps they will be fascinated by the tiny pill bug or the great moose and choose to write a story that will delight readers for years to come.
