Sharon Jeffus’ Studio Art for Teens course provides middle and high school students step-by-step recognition of how to build art by imitating the masters. More than forty lessons are available with new units posting twice a month. Each of the elements and principles of the masters’ artwork is discussed and projects are presented that reinforce how to perform the different techniques and styles of the master. If a minimum of sixteen lessons are completed, including the lessons that combine literature and art, one credit hour of high school art can be obtained. Students in elementary through high school can work on their own technique in Art Techniques with Brenda Ellis. Each month, Brenda provides a model photo at the beginning of the month and drawings that build on each other in consecutive weeks to help teach that particular technique. More than a dozen units are available focusing on a variety of mediums such as watercolor, colored pencils, tempera paint, pencil, chalk pastels, oil pastels, charcoal, and more. This course alone could count as 0.25 credit. Addition of art history and art appreciation would provide ample work for a full credit in fine arts.
