It Takes a Team
The new school has started, or perhaps for some of you it may merely be continuing, or you start earlier than that. But nonetheless, school is ON!
You’ve organized your curriculum.
You’ve bought your new school supplies.
You’ve, hopefully, gotten your children on board with schooling again. 🙂 BUT perhaps not… 🙂
You’ve paid your fees to be part of homeschool group, or perhaps found an excellent on-line group to be a part of.
You are set.
Or are you?
Have you considered the rest?
Have you considered your spouse?
Your extended family?
The community in which you live?
Other homeschooling families?
It is SO VERY, VERY easy to go it alone and often for the introverts among us it’s even preferred.
But to homeschool well it takes more than just an individual family you know.
It takes field trips to museum or interesting places. Interacting with the people in those locations.
It takes trips the library . . . to get books or to participate in programs. Talking with the librarians or the volunteers found therein.
It takes filling paperwork if necessary. Trips to the post office, or to offices to drop off required information.
It takes the support of your family if you are part of extended one. From working schedules, perhaps trading off on subject matter and such like, giving a hug or a shoulder to lean on when things are hard.
It takes small and big business owners to make it all work as well. Office supplies, curricula, books, pencils, microscopes and more.
If you are a person of faith, it takes prayer, bible study, and fellowship with other believers. That leaning on God in those tough times, is what will help you succeed.
Who is part of your team when you home educate your children this year?
You are NOT in this alone. You really aren’t.
You and your children have a whole network of people surrounding you that perhaps you haven’t even considered.
So as you go into this New Year know this… You are a central part in a team that educates your children. Get the supports where you need them and be glad that they are there. 🙂
Educate Well eh? 🙂
