It’s a Zoo Out There!
We go to the zoo to see a wide variety of animals we wouldn’t normally see in our area like giraffes and lions. We are usually fascinated by such creatures. How often, though, are we fascinated by the animals that are around us on a daily basis? This week we will spend a lot of time focusing on one particular animal—the turkey. But how much do you really know about this bird? Sonya Brouillette’s Animal Science course takes a detailed look at turkeys in her most recent lesson. Middle school and high school students can learn about its history as the national bird of the US, its endangered status, and the traditional pardon it receives from our President every Thanksgiving. You’ll discover more about turkeys in one lesson than most people will ever know their whole lives. Elementary students can also enjoy the creatures outdoors in Rosemarie Pagano’s Bug Science course. In her latest lessons, children and parents alike can learn about worms, their habits, and the benefits of their waste. Yes, worm waste has many benefits. Find out why.
