blog literature for learning

Great literature has so many benefits! It stimulates our minds and fills our souls. We can learn how to write by reading it. We can learn about history. We can begin to understand the world in which we live. The possibilities are endless! Children’s Literature for Life with Fran May is a new unit-study course for students in upper elementary through high school. Each unit study is designed to last four to eight weeks depending on the amount of reading and studying you choose to do each day. As students read classic literature, including Carry On, Mr. Bowditch, they will focus on writing, history, geography, science, Bible, art activities, and more. Writing with Janice Campbell will help students of all ages recognize excellent writing by looking at short classical works of literature. They will begin to understand various literary terms and techniques, expand their vocabulary, and create their own work. Each literary piece will be used by your student as they undergo a four-week process whereby they will do copywork, analysis, transformation of the work copied, and finally create their own work. More than a dozen self-contained monthly units are available.
