Managing Home and Harvest
Do you have an abundance of fruit and vegetables from your garden? Do you want to take advantage of the great prices at the local farmer’s market but don’t want to waste the food you buy? Think about canning as a way to preserve the fresh bounty. If you’ve never canned before or you need a refresher course, join Homesteading with Lisa Barthuly. During the entire month of June, she is teaching us about water bath canning, specifically, making strawberry jam and canning cherries and green beans. Use this new found knowledge to can the rest of your summer harvest. Home Economics with Heather Leach is an active class that is currently on a break for the summer, but previous lessons can be viewed. She spent time in April discussing meal preparation, organization, and time management. Before that, some topics were measuring in the kitchen, basic cooking, and an introduction to basic cooking tools. Heather has provided a wealth of information that can help your children learn how to manage a home, whether you have boys or girls.
