Math – Pre-Algebra

/ / Blog, Schoolhouse Teachers

Taught by Charlene Johnson, Pre-Algebra is a ten-month class that begins with a review of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. It then moves into fractions, decimals, and percents. A unit on the metric system is also included. During the second half of the course, students review the different types of numbers and various kinds of graphs and then spend time learning about algebraic expressions and equations. There is also a unit on geometry and another on statistics and probability. Not only are daily worksheets available (along with answer keys), but instruction is provided so the student understands how to perform the calculations necessary. Students will proceed through an entire year of pre-algebra in a format that will not overwhelm them but will prepare them for Algebra 1.
