Media and Morals
Sometimes it is difficult to know what message is being sent through the various media outlets. Sometimes it is painfully obvious. Middle and high school students can participate in Media Socialization with Dr. Lisa Dunne to examine the effect that media plays in our lives. They can become more media literate as they analyze the impact of the social system on the individual, recognizing that the social context is much wider and more powerful than we may have once believed. Through 19 weeks of written instruction, reading assignments, videos, external websites, reflection activities, and tests, students will study both the Biblical and scientific evidence for our social nature and become better equipped to evaluate the influence of mass media and its collective spiritual, psychological, and sociological impact on the church, the family, and the culture. In the Limelight with RachelAnn Rogish provides the opportunity for students in grades 4-12 to look at a number of classic plays with a Biblical worldview. Besides learning the truths that are evident in each of these plays, students can also learn how to perform them in their own backyard.
