Colleges Are Seeking Homeschoolers—This Is How These Students Prepare

The Old Schoolhouse® helps homeschoolers build confidence in the college admissions process.

GRAY, Tenn. - October 31, 2023 - PRLog -- While SAT testing seats fill up for the 2023–2024 academic year, high schoolers across the nation are doing everything in their power to ensure they will take home scores that will impress college admissions officers. Homeschooled students are no exception. "College Options Foundation® has provided rigorous, competitive, and challenging academic competitions for the public school arena for decades. Last year, we opened the door to the homeschooling community, along with The Old Schoolhouse®,  and we haven't looked back," states Terry Wilfong of College Options Foundation®. "Registration is underway for the Second Annual National Academic Homeschool Competition (the NAHC) with students competing from coast to coast. We are eager to see how many states will be represented this time around."

Known for preparing homeschooled students ages 12–18 for the SAT, ACT, and college admissions process, the NAHC is a virtual academic competition open exclusively to homeschoolers. NAHC sponsor CTCMath (https://www.ctcmath.com/) was used by several competitors last year to prepare, even by one of the champions of the First Annual NAHC. Its online, self-grading aspects allow students to master concepts presented in the NAHC. Colorado Christian University (https://www.ccu.edu/), another top-level NAHC sponsor, is a quality higher-education institution actively seeking motivated homeschoolers to apply to its academic programs.

"Preparing for college can be intimidating," says Gena Suarez, publisher of The Old Schoolhouse® Magazine. "We urge homeschooling families to take advantage of the college prep resources available with a SchoolhouseTeachers.com membership, including a half-price discount to participate in the NAHC. Its interactive components make the experience user-friendly and virtually hands-off for the parents."

The competition begins on November 1, 2023. Register today at NAHCRegistration.com.
