Curriculum provider fills in math gaps and offers free resources
GRAY, Tenn. – November 8, 2022 -- PRLog – What is the sum of impressive degrees plus varied teaching experiences plus a love for teaching? The answer is Maria Miller. She’s not only a math teacher-turned-homeschooler but also the author of Math Mammoth curriculum. She knows the answers to problems homeschooling parents may encounter when teaching math.
In the early 2000s, Miller was tutoring various homeschooled children and noticed their materials seemed inferior to what she had used in Finland. Some even had blatant errors. She also wanted to ensure that a conceptual understanding of math was instilled. Those experiences prompted her to start writing books especially for homeschoolers. “I wanted the books to do the same teaching as I personally would do. That way I could, in a sense, ‘spread out’ to help thousands instead of just a few,” said Miller.
The aim of Miller’s Math Mammoth books is first and foremost to explain math in very simple terms yet rigorously focus on helping students understand the actual concepts of math. Math Mammoth materials are versatile and accommodate the needs of both parents and teachers. “Whether you need a complete math curriculum, review materials, topical books to fill in gaps, or real-life math supplements, we have something for you,” Miller added. All of the books are available as downloads, and most are also available as printed books on MathMammoth.com.
“Math Mammoth offers a free mini-math class that I know home educators will be thrilled with,” said Gena Suarez, publisher of The Old Schoolhouse® Magazine. Math Mammoth’s virtual two-week email course offers parents insight on the value of mistakes and how to help a student who is behind or who is having trouble with word problems. “The Old Schoolhouse® Magazine is here to connect,” added Suarez. “We connect homeschoolers to information, inspiration, and resources. We’re especially excited to connect homeschooling families to Math Mammoth. See how Math Mammoth can help your family. Check out the curriculum, and don’t miss the free resources available like the mini-math class, assessment tests, and online math practice at MathMammoth.com.”
