Rocks and Rhododendrons
Rocks and plants abound on Schoolhouse Teachers! Geology with Patrick Nurre, geared to students in third grade and up, covers the rock aspect. In the first half of his course, Patrick discusses the connection between rocks and minerals and teaches students how to identify the rocks in their area. The second half of the course is a virtual tour of some of our National Parks. Julie Polanco also talks about minerals, but she relates them to soil in her Botany course. Middle and high school students can spend sixteen weeks learning about soil, plant roots, water, transpiration, leaves and stems, light, plant cells, plant defenses, and so on. Both classes showcase the handiwork and care our Creator used when designing the world we live in.
