Save the Bookworm!
Many of us don’t like worms and bugs, but one we should fight to save is the bookworm. How do we do this? Instill a love of reading in our children. Fran May understands this and has put together a series of unit studies in Children’s Literature for Life. Designed to last four to eight weeks depending on the amount of reading and studying you choose to do each day, these unit studies include literature, writing, history, geography, and science, as well as supplemental Bible and art activities. Students in upper elementary through high school will explore many classic children’s books, beginning with Carry On, Mr. Bowditch. Marla Schultz also understands the need for children to love reading and guides us through Literature Kits. Every two months, she focuses on a different book. There are more than a dozen books, such as Call It Courage, All-of-A-Kind Family, The Horse and His Boy, Island of the Blue Dolphins, and Where the Red Fern Grows to explore from the perspective of language arts, hands-on activities, recipes, history and geography, Bible, science, and more.
