Semester Abroad
As you look to begin a new semester, why not travel the world (virtually)? So much can be learned by studying countries and cultures that are different from our own. Start with Asia: Its People and History. Let Bonne Rose Hudson provide a glimpse of what it is like to be a Christian in seven of the countries of Asia, including Laos, Bangladesh, Nepal, China, Iran, Indonesia, and Vietnam. You’ll also hear a brief history of the country, learn some geography, and discover ways to pray for the persecuted Church. This class uses short stories, nonfiction accounts, worksheets, puzzles, and games to bring this information to elementary and middle school students through twenty insightful lessons. When your tour of Asia is over, you can venture to the Land Down Under in Everyday Explorers – Australia and New Zealand. Students can study interesting facts about Australia and New Zealand and the history of these nations. A different state or territory of Australia will be visited each month, with detours to explore New Zealand, the Cook Islands, and Niue. There are activities, interesting facts, and links that will help the student virtually explore the areas being discussed in the day’s lesson. A study of native Australian animals is included in the “Build a Zoo” feature. Activities to study the animals are included and targeted to the different age groups so any age student can benefit from this course.
