Sing for Joy
I love to sing, but I don’t sing well. That’s why I love Joy Sikorski’s Music/Voice class. This course encourages those who take it to be comfortable with the voice God has given them and to use it, regardless of what they or others may think. The whole family can benefit from this course as it discusses singers and songs from different genres and encourages the family to sing together. Printable monthly lessons are broken into weekly units for 13 months. If you’d like to learn some of the theory behind the music, try Michelle Martin’s Music Theory/Education I and II courses. Music Theory I teaches students the basics of music theory, but introduces a variety of classical music to illustrate the weekly concepts. Topics discussed include notes, tempo, rests, dynamics, and more. Music Theory II goes a bit deeper in reading notes and the notations that give such special meaning to the notes. The course progresses to melodic and harmonic intervals, meters, time signatures, key signatures, and more. Each course is 16 weeks long and is intended for students in elementary through high school. Sing for joy to the Lord. Don’t worry about anybody else.
