I typically love endings. That means a new beginning is on the horizon. Next year, however, is the end of my first child’s homeschooling journey. I don’t think I’m going to like that ending. I have a hard time telling people he’s going to be a senior next year. I had trouble writing it just now. Regardless, I know it’s inevitable. So, I turn to SchoolhouseTeachers.com for those end-of-the-journey helps like Writing: College Admission Essay with Sharon Watson. This two-week mini-course is designed to help high school students gain an understanding of what college admissions counselors look for in the essay that needs to accompany their application for admission. It helps the student answer questions that show the college who they are, shares critical “do” and “don’t” lists, and helps the student gain confidence and reduce the stress associated with submitting the college admission essay. Many schools require students to submit their applications in the fall for admission the following year, so now is a great time to have your juniors take this mini-course. Transcript Help answers questions we all have when we begin creating a transcript for our high schoolers such as What do I include? How do I give a credit? How do I give a final grade? What are cumulative grades? Who signs the transcript? This resource can be found by clicking High School Helps under the “Resources & Specials” tab and scrolling to bottom of the page where it reads, “For transcript help . . .” Downloadable samples are also included for your use.
