The Familyman
Mom, there will be days when your homeschool blows up … your kids will see you at your worst and you’ll feel like tossing in the towel. You’ll think to yourself, this can’t be good for my children … they’d be better off in REAL school.
Here’s a survival secret: don’t quit. Ask forgiveness and take some time to rebuild relationships, but don’t abandon ship and give up on homeschooling. The truth is everyone has bad days (or weeks) … EVERYONE!!! Don’t believe that lie that says you are the only one that does. The thing about doing something worthwhile is that worthwhile things are HARD.
But here’s what God says about the hard times: “You will reap a reward IF you do not grow weary and stop” (Galatians 6:9). That’s a promise … a promise to you.
I’ve seen too many homeschoolers hit the rough spots, give up, stick their kids in school … and then regret it. In fact, I’ve had them come up to me and say, “I thought I had problems before, but when I put my kids in school we ended up with way bigger problems.”
Mom, you may be going through a hard patch right now (as in today). Keep swimming. Ask forgiveness, repair the relationship(s), and assess areas that are causing added stress, but never give up.
And know this: YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
Be real,
Todd

“I look forward to THM every Wednesday. I really enjoy Deborah’s articles. For some reason, it must be God, she always writes about what I am needing to hear. Her ability to put scripture and God in the middle of all her articles keeps me coming back. I recently have been enjoying the Youngs’ [articles] because I have a young man (10) in my house. The encouragement of the Youngs is fabulous. I thank God for parents like them that pave the way for parents like myself and my husband.”
