The Familyman
Let me just say up front: you CAN’T do it all AND you can’t fit it ALL in. I’m not sure what it is about homeschooling moms and that fact, but most moms seem to fight it.
They, or I should say, “you,” work so hard to try and fit it all in. You see an interesting book and think, I really should read this to the kids. You read or hear some curriculum expert say you need to cover “this” topic and think I can add it in between math and lunch.
Mom, you can’t do it all or fit it all in, so deal with it. You can’t read every good book, cover every single subject, and learn every cool instrument. You CAN help your kids enjoy learning (by not trying to cram in too much), however, which helps them desire to learn.
Just do what you can, fit in the most important stuff, like playing games with your children, and leave the other stuff by the wayside along with the guilt.
Have a great day with your children …
And be real,
Todd

A division of The Old Schoolhouse® Magazine
Did you know? Every class is INCLUDED for members! No limits!
We can’t help you find more hours in the day (we wish we could!), but we can help you spend fewer of them planning your monthly schedules. If you’ve never explored the Monthly Checklists on the Pre-K/Elementary and the Middle/High School tabs, you’ll want to check out this popular resource. Each checklist provides a snapshot of what you can expect to find on SchoolhouseTeachers.com for the entire month.
You can use these checklists to help schedule your lessons or find ways to integrate more than one unit. For example, this month, Adam Andrews’ Literature lesson and Marla Schultz’s Lit Kit both focus on The Silver Chair by C.S. Lewis. Combining them would make for a wonderful, in-depth analysis of the book and bring it to life through various hands-on activities.
One membership to SchoolhouseTeachers.com serves your entire family, regardless of how many children you are homeschooling or their ages. There are no per-child fees, and courses range from preschool to high school. If you’ve never had a membership to the site before, you can sign up for a Homeschool Welcome Basket and a free thirty-day trial. You can buy a monthly subscription or purchase an entire year for $139 and save over 10%. Try it today.

“I look forward to THM every Wednesday. I really enjoy Deborah’s articles. For some reason, it must be God, she always writes about what I am needing to hear. Her ability to put scripture and God in the middle of all her articles keeps me coming back. I recently have been enjoying the Youngs’ [articles] because I have a young man (10) in my house. The encouragement of the Youngs is fabulous. I thank God for parents like them that pave the way for parents like myself and my husband.”
