The Sound of Music

/ / Blog, Schoolhouse Teachers

The hills are alive … well, maybe just your home. Do your kids love music? Do they keep begging you to learn a new instrument or to be able to take lessons? As part of your SchoolhouseTeachers.com membership, they can take those lessons. We’ve got Beginning/Intermediate Guitar with recording artist Jerry Jennings. His passion is to make the best possible music and empowering others to do the same. Through this 28-lesson course, students will learn the basics of playing the guitar and will be able to play some simple songs upon completion of the course. Beginning Violin with Nancy Blue is a 33-week class that introduces students to the violin. Through weekly videos, Nancy teaches things like tuning the violin, holding the violin, and major scales. She also encourages the students to learn how to play a wide variety of songs throughout the course as they continue their instruction. Joy Sikorski brings her talent and expertise to SchoolhouseTeachers.com in Music/Voice, found under the Family tab. Eleven months of lessons are available. Some of the topics in Joy’s class are famous songwriters and their songs, breathing correctly, Christmas carols in German, and others. Each lesson is unique and engaging. Opportunity for reflection is available during each lesson as well. Music Theory with Michelle Martin is a 32-week class comprised of 16 weeks each of Music Theory I and II. It’s a course that can benefit the entire family. Learn the elements of music and the markings. Learn the notes and their values, as well as accidentals, intervals, meters, and time signatures. Choose any of these classes, and you’ll be sure to have the sound of music in your home.
