Homeschooling affords us the opportunity to teach our children about those things that fascinate them. If they look up and ask about space, you can explore Everyday Astronomy. This class gives elementary students a basic understanding of the solar system, along with some fun activities, including recipes and virtual “field trips.” Students will learn about the sun, Mercury, Venus, Earth and the moon, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, and be introduced to constellations. There are more than 180 printable daily lessons.

If your children look down and ask about rocks, you can dig into Geology with Patrick Nurre. Two units are available: Rocks and Minerals and The Geology of Our National Parks. In the study of rocks and minerals, elementary through high school students can study Creation and rock-forming minerals, identify rocks by their minerals, and distinguish between different types of rocks and minerals and their families. The study of our national parks begins with Yellowstone National Park. Students will study the connection between the Genesis account of Creation and evidence that supports the Biblical view. More than a dozen parks are covered. A weekly audio slideshow and downloadable worksheet are available, as well as a final exam.
