Chocolate Chip Banana Squares

 

Have you ever found that your bananas ripen before your family can finish them? Is your family tired of banana bread? Are you searching for another way to use them for a tasty purpose? These squares are DELICIOUS and sooooo easy to make!

 

This is another addition to our Kids Quick Cook series of recipes that you can make with your children or have your older ones make on their own. Add in some teaching moments by talking about the benefits of bananas and the nutritional differences of bananas in their different stages of ripeness. And since there's some cinnamon in this too, get the family knowledgeable about the health benefits of this popular spice.

 

Kids Quick Cook: Chocolate Chip Banana Squares

Course Dessert

Ingredients
  

  • 5 very ripe bananas
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1-3/4 cup flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips (divided)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Spray 15 x 10.5 pan.
  • Peel and mash bananas.
  • Stir in the brown sugar, oil, milk and eggs.
  • Add dry ingredients and 1/2 of the chocolate chips.
  • Spread the batter in the pan and then sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips on top.
  • Bake 18-22 minutes. Insert a toothpick, and if it comes out clean it is ready.
  • Cool completely and then cut into squares.
  • Gather your family together and enjoy!
