Self-Sauced Chocolate Pudding Cake

Ingredients
  

Batter

  • 1 cup flour (We’ve used all-purpose, whole wheat, and spelt with yummy results.)
  • 2 tbsp. baking powder
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • cup sugar
  • ½ cup milk

Sauce

  • ½ cup sugar (Brown sugar can be good for taste.)
  • 2-2½ cups boiling water
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • ½ tsp. vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp. cocoa

Instructions
 

  • Combine flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Mix in the milk. Spread into a greased casserole/baking dish with at least a 6 cup capacity. (This will boil up and over if the dish is too small.)
  • Stir together boiling water, sugar, butter, vanilla, and cocoa. Pour sauce over batter.
  • Bake at 350°F for 30-35 minutes.
