Christmas cookies are such a fun tradition! Especially ones you can cut out with a cookie cutter and cover in fun icing! This recipe is easy to make and isn't so sweet you’ll get an instant stomachache!

- ½ cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- ¼ cup milk of your choice
- 1 tsp. cream of tartar
- ½ tsp. baking soda
- ½ tsp. vanilla
- 2½ cups flour

Preheat oven to 350°.

Mix the dry ingredients together.

Cream the butter and sugar in a mixer.

Add wet ingredients and dry ingredients together and combine.

Cool for 2+ hours in the fridge.

Roll out the dough on a floured surface.

Cut out into shapes and place on a parchment lined baking sheet.

Bake for 7-9 minutes, or until golden. (If you use almond milk, they will be more blonde.)

Let cool before icing! (See below if you need an icing recipe!)

- ½ cup butter
- 4 cups icing sugar
- ¼ cup milk of choice
- 1 tsp. vanilla

Cream 2 cups of icing sugar and ½ cup of butter with a mixer.

Add the milk and continue to mix.

Add the remaining 2 cups of icing sugar and the vanilla.

Adjust to desired consistency with extra icing sugar or milk if necessary. You want it thinner so your kids can spread it on the cookie!

You can add food colouring to make it all one colour or split it up into multiple bowls and make multiple colours.
