It’s a common thing for many homeschooling parents to get busy with schedules, tasks, and life on the whole. There is a lot of room for flexibility, and that makes it easy for our schedules to fill up quite quickly without even realizing it. Though it is usually filled with many good things, our time with God tends to get pushed off to the side unwillingly.
A beautiful aspect of homeschooling is having your children with you all the time as well as, most often, not working outside the home. This gives you time to work more in the home and to teach your children modern homemaking skills they wouldn’t otherwise have the time to spend learning.
To children around the world, Christmas (without a doubt) means presents. At some point on Christmas day, we sit together with our family and share in the moment of watching each other open gifts. While it is a joyous occasion, it’s important to remember the reason why we celebrate so we don’t lose our focus on the true gift of Christmas.
When our son was nearing preschool, my husband and I discussed the possibility of homeschooling him, at least during his preschool years. You have to understand, in the Philippines, enrolling in a good preschool is sort of a prerequisite or preview to what kind of education a child will be able to receive. I was not “ambitious” then. Just preschool. Learn the ABC’s, the 123’s, easy peasy.
