Every ten years we must fill out a census form. Every election has exit polling. Television shows continue or are canceled based in part on the ratings. Find out how these numbers are gathered and used, as well as demographics and samples, in Kathy LaPan’s Statistics course. She does a great job of helping students understand how statistics are an important part of the world we live in. Ed Sobey’s Tinkers Club helps students learn about everyday items such as wheels, cars, boats, and electromagnets, as well as some not-so-common items like flying saucers and catapults. This is an extremely hands-on course and is great fun for kinesthetic learners. This class is currently on a break, but you can check out completed lessons all the way back to October 2013.
