Tough Topics

/ / Blog, Schoolhouse Teachers

What topics do your children have difficulty with? Many struggle with learning their multiplication facts. Dr. Peter Price has provided some strategies for learning times tables in Elementary Math. The last lesson of April and the first lesson in May focus on multiplication facts through podcast videos. Another topic that some children struggle with is Algebra. Those variables throw them for a loop. Charlene Johnson provides a well-rounded discussion of various math topics to prepare students for Algebra in her Pre-Algebra course. This month she is focusing on probability and statistics, mean and median, and qualitative and quantitative data. If your child will be taking Algebra in the fall, consider a summer review of Pre-Algebra. Do your children struggle with reading? Join Matthew Glavach this month in Reading Lessons. He has two reading labs: a global reading lab and an analytical reading lab. One discusses “Learning to Read a Different Way” and “Reading the News,” while the other reviews phonics.
