What a Wonderful World!
SchoolhouseTeachers.com has many classes that allow students to explore our world, from geography and geology to physics and chemistry. Botany is a middle and high school class led by Julie Polanco which focuses on plants. This month she is teaching about the respiratory and circulatory systems of plants and how they work. She discusses why they need water and how they use it and how the watery quality impacts a plant’s growth. Her lessons are supplemented by many activities and colorful diagrams to provide a learning environment for kinesthetic and visual learners, as well as auditory learners. Daily Discoveries with Yvonne Blake takes us to different ecosystems to marvel at our world. This month she has taken us to the Maine coastlines to learn about tides, minerals, fish, and mammals. The discovery process is enhanced through vocabulary, math, writing, and science activities, as well as questions to answer or charts to fill out to test for reading comprehension.
